Well hello, here is a collection of some of my favorite moments from this gorgeous Valentine’s Day engagement session.
Eliza and Josh are two of the most in love people I’ve ever seen and that’s saying a lot.
I mean, I’ve added them to my mental list of “love that inspires me”. You could also just tell it was a relationship that was deeply nurtured, built intentionally day by day. This also made it pretty easy to flow with them. When we met up, I was definitely ready to give my shpiel of what to expect, but after only a few words Josh looked at me and said “Easy enough, I can do that.”
From there, I put on some music (my favorite thing to do to set the vibe) and they quickly seemed to forget about me taking photos and focused in on one another, present as ever.
Normally, I’m finicky about my process to really create a comfortable atmosphere but this session proved that you don’t necessarily need much prep to have a good experience. We had good music, they took their shoes off and we wandered in and out of crevices in the cliffs. Another interesting element that was super supportive of our focus on love… it was Valentine’s Day! So naturally, we were surrounded by tons of couples watching the sun make its way under the horizon.
I gotta say, I like reflecting back on every session to see what stood out to me or the lesson that it beared (they all have one!). This one, reminded me how beautiful it is when creating feels easy together. A few things are needed for this to happen…trust, shared goals, open minds, and the most important one of all in my opinion – the ability to surrender to the moment. Or simply put – “going with it”. The three of us seemed to energetically “go with it”. And I feel much of being a photographer or being an artist in general is mastering this. Turning anything into SOMEthing. Working with what’s in front of you- light, time, resources. And we didn’t have a super elaborate plan, but boy did we have love! light! and God’s incredible creation! And so, magic was made out of the everyday.
